It is known that there are at least nine malicious Android applications on the Play Store which have been downloaded thousands of times. All these malicious apps try to disguise themselves as apps for performance optimization of Android phones.

But in reality, all these malicious applications are not applications for performance optimization of Android phones. Instead, these applications can even take over Google accounts and Facebook accounts from their victims.

According to a report by a cyber security company, Trend Micro, all of these malicious applications have malware that can seriously damage the victim's phone. These applications pretend to be an application that can optimize the performance of the user's Android phone. By doing cleaning on certain files excessively.

When the application is installed on the cellphone, then this malicious application actually downloads about 3,000 variants of malware and they also have the ability to be able to access the Google account and Facebook account belonging to the victim. Then carry out advertising practices which of course are fraudulent and detrimental to users.

Apart from that, once the criminals are able to take control of the Google account and Facebook account of the victim, they will then use those accounts to create and post comments and also give fake ratings for the app on the Play Store to entice other users to download the malicious app. That way they will get more dollars from downloading applications on the Play Store.

And furthermore, this fake application will also ask for permission to disable the Play Protect feature which is a security program from the Google Play Store. This is done to make it easier for the malicious application to download more corrupt software.
